LOGLINE
When her big sister mysteriously disappears, the timid Fen stumbles into her sister’s double life whilst trying to track her down. Turns out, that by night, Fen’s sister fights amongst the most vicious women in the the bloody, but glittering underworld of costumed women’s street fighting. As Fen continues to investigate, she gets sucked in deep — too deep — into her sister’s twisted reality of big bets, mean fight-picking bitches, and super (like seeing demons, super) fucked-up street drugs.

ROLE
For this project, I was initially brought on by Tyler Michael James at Ad Opus Production to rewrite a screenplay they liked, but felt wasn’t quite popping off the page. I reviewed their existing draft, crafted an assessment of how I’d zap it to life, which included the following: a complete rework of the structure to amp up the pace, punching up the humor, and injecting a larger-than-life amount of voice, heart, and memorable quirk into the characters in order to turn a plot-driven story into an explosive, character-driven ride.

Thankfully, the Ad Opus team saw the larger vision behind what I came back to them with. They flipped their project on its head and asked me to expand what I had and whip into into a whole new screenplay. I love a good challenge and creative freedom, so I built them DIVINE, a whippy 85-page thriller fueled by a lot of bloody fights, sneaky twists, and ride-or-die type sisterly love.
